| His Revelation
by Angela Cleland |
 |
He heard
the unexamined life was not worth living.
So he picked up his pen
stared out of the window then
turned his gaze in on himself
and looked hard till his eyes hurt.
At what he had and hadn’t done,
at all the people and things that had come
and gone through his life
without incident
and he sat stock still,
his muse impotent
till his mind hurt.
He looked fazed,
turned his watery gaze outwards again
stared out of the window
put down his pen
because the unlived life is not worth examining.
