Good old F. Scott
has a story
of a woman on a terrace
seen from afar, she kindles all desire
but at close range, illusion flees
and so does he.

I can't help wondering
how Zelda would have dealt with
that same scene

perhaps the woman would glimpse
Prince Charming in the distance

close at hand, his golden hair is fast becoming sparse.
His snowwhite steed's a nag.
Perhaps he drinks a bit too much
and laughs at his own jokes.

Even so, she might not be afraid
of seeing things up close
